Most of the 1960's handbooks (and before) had plans using the 807 PA tube - 
the 1625 is nothing more than an 807 with a 12v filament - knock yourself 
out, as there are many, many schematics using a keyed 807 (1625), but more 
with a 6AG7 as the oscillator, feeding the 807 (1625).  The Heathkit AT-1 
was a predecessor. (6L6)
