[Hallicrafters] Feedback problem with SX 99

Had a similar problem on an SX-42 a while back,turned out it was a loose  
ground connection on the tuning condenser in the 1st RF stage.It could be a  
loose or bad connection as K1MH  has pointed out on any of the components  in the 
RF section.Since you have done a recap on the rcvr ,I would suggest  checking 
all connections ,soldering once  again.Also restorers have a  tendency of  
changing the placement of components specially bypass  capacitors (as the new 
components are smaller than the original ones so it seems  "OK" to ground the 
capacitor at some "other" location than the original spot or  sometimes the 
original condensers are in such a "hard to reach" location that  one has no 
alternative but ground the component at another location).Though this  doesn't always 
lead to unstability ,but I've noticed on a couple of  occasions that it 
rendered the RF stage  unstable.
