Hi Ted,
You may want to try one of the Huff&Puff VFO stabilizers. I think the best
by far is made in the U.K. by Cambria Designs as it uses a PIC for
housekeeping chores.
Also make certain the VFO tracking capacitor has not deteriorated and
causing VFO problems.
In the end, it's a very mediocre VFO design. I have a Galaxy solid state
VFO of the same era that drifts less than 30Hz from cold start.
