I think you're right Roy.  I saw a thread on some audio forum that 
mentioned the B+ was considerably higher after installing the Sarkes 
Tarzian units.   I would not subject most receiver/transmitter circuits 
to the added stress of increased HV by simply using solid state diodes 
without dropping resistors.   I used Dale heat sink type power resistors 
mounted to the rear chassis wall on mine, like the copper jobs, the 
metal acts as a heat sink.  I'm not familiar with the Sarkes Tarzian 
model, but no way they would have dropping resistors in those epoxy 
encapsulated type plug-in replacements that were made by some.
