I have had excellent luck with FedEx ground and very dismal service the past 4 years from UPS.  At least at the Mesquite, Texas (Dallas area), UPS hub they can destroy a well crated anvil!  I have received a number of heavy items shipped by FedEx ground that have been very poorly packed and no damage at all.

UPS or FED-EX Ground, USPS. Any of the three will be fine as long as the packing is good. Motor freight will cost you a bunch. Along with all of the surcharges and add-ons.
