That 6AL5  is probably a SERIES type noise limiter circuit  which is more 
effective than the shunt type limiter originally used ,and was a  popular upgrade 
in the 1950's and 60's.It is the same type of limiter used on  the later 
SX-42 and other models.A schematic of this upgrade can be downloaded  from BAMA.
I bought some SX-28 parts from you,never told me that you were also  
restoring an SX-28.
