[Hallicrafters] SX-28 mod

I am presently restoring a quite old SX-28 (notA). It is in pretty good
shape in view of its age.
It has one mod as far as I can see. Just behind the AVC ON-OFF switch
is a 6AL5 tube with some associated parts. Does anyone know what this
mod was and where it was described? Saome sort of product detector
perhaps?
