I have to agree about the audio, at least on many Hallis that required an
external speaker. My SX-110 sounds about the same as any auto radio when
used with the cheap matching 6x9 speaker, and flipping the rear mounted
"tone" switch is a pain. OTOH, it is decent on a R-42 but nowhere as good as
some other radios including the SX-71 Im listening to with a R-42 as I type
this.
BUT, nothing beats a SX-28, SX-42 or SX-62 for pure listening pleasure on AM
or FM for the latter pair. Unless of course we change pages and get into an
old Super Pro, HRO 50/60 or NC-183/183D which all have comparable audio.
