Hi David,

If you view the knob from the underside and you have no cracks emanating
from (or around) the set screw opening, your bandswitch may be "loose
enough" to allow lots of band switching without tearing up the old knobs.
That would be good news.

I understand that one can switch the skirt to another knob. 

As they say, and it really applies to these old beauties, YMMV... Enjoy the
SX-100.. I really like mine.
