I was wondering if someone else would mention this ;-) When I was
first licensed back in the mid-60s this combination seemed to be
everywher. I can't remember hearing an HT-37 being used with an SX-111
or even and SX-101, but dozens of stations ran the HT-37-Drake 2B
combo. One reason may have been that it could work well on AM and CW as
well as SSB, while most of the transceivers that were coming onto the
market were really optimized for sideband.

I've got mine paired up already, and hopefully will be bringing a Gonset
201 amp into the fold this weekend. Since the 2B and SX-111 both sold
for $279, my guess is that once a prospective buyer evaluated the two
receivers side-by-side at his local ham store (remember those?) - it was
an easy choice.
