Hi Pete,
Mostly correct.
Originally it was HCA and then came the legal problems -
The Hallicrafters trademark owner Chuck Worsham in Alabama, in conjunction
with the owner of the original web site, tried to liable Alan Waller, K3TKJ
who owned the domain name of "hallicrafters.net" A real mess resulted and it
destroyed the HCA site and so forth.
HCI grew out of this nightmare.
Because of some restricted data theft we were forced to either shut
everything down or make some changes in the hopes of preserving the data, as
well as keeping the web site secure. This happened in June of 2006 aprox.
Although Alan Waller, K3TKJ technically owns the domain name of
"hallicrafters.org", he made me the "owner" when he originally registered
this name in 2000.
The name was changed from "HCI" to "HHI" at this same time in June of 2006.
The actual club license bears the call sign of the late William Halligan,
Sr., W9WZE and the name "Halligans Hallicrafters". I am the FCC trustee of
the "W9WZE Halligan's Hallicrafters" call now. (FYI: I acquired this call
from Santa Rosa Jr. College in CA, the name was on the license. I did not
add it or alter it.) Since the Web Master, W5JT, James Thayer, suggested to
me that we name the web site to match the club license name, which to me
seemed like a logical and fitting thing to do, I agreed. Hence, HHI. `
Any contributions of material, that you either personally own or have the
legal right to use, can always be sent to 'webmaster at w9wze.net'
A number of talented individuals have made this web site possible and all of
us need to thank them for their efforts, contributions of talent and
devotion. We also need to thank "all of you" who have contributed photos or
articles or restoration tips or whatever over the years for your
thoughtfullness and support. Keep them coming!
And thanks to Pete for his excellent, and badly needed, historical
documentation of which SX-101 and its offspring came first!
