[Hallicrafters] Did Power Line Voltage Increase from 110 to 120V?

I googled it and checked the wiki page for "mains power"

(a different page than what I found last night, which listed the NEMA and 
CSA standards
which set the voltage at 120 Volts +/- 5%.)

Keep in mind that coming into the house is 240 volts with a neutral. By 
using the two
hot leads together you get the 240 volts for your electric oven and clothes 
drier.
