Many thanks to Joe, K7MKS, who sent a picture of the little rascal looking
pretty and mounted up proper. Great shot and great looking interior of your
radio, Joe!

I still need a solution to my missing speaker problem but my question has
been answered. There are two tabs welded on the sides of the speaker
(looking at the front of the unit) that are centered on the 7:30 and 1:30
positions where there are two knurled head screws in each position that mate
up with the tabs. On the back side of the panel, there are insulating
grommets (for acoustic reasons, I presume) on either side of the tab
followed by the retaining washer and nut. Whew! If that isn't clear, ask
Joe or myself for a picture. His picture truly is worth 10,000 words.

Also, thanks to Roy for his comments.

Since I now know my options, I must move towards a solution.

Have any of you with said radio found a replacement speaker (dynamic or
otherwise) that fits the space and allows you to utilize the existing
mounting arrangement? If not, what speaker did you use (dynamic or PM and
source if still in existence) and how did you mount it (ie, fabricated your
own clamping tabs, super glue, drill holes as needed)? BTW, I am capable
of figuring this out myself but I try to avoid reinventing the wheel if
someone has already figured out a perfectly acceptable solution to a
problem....and is willing to share it.

Thanks,

Chris

Subject: [Hallicrafters] S-20R speaker question

Would someone who has an original speaker mounted in a S-20R be kind enough
to take some close up pictures of the speaker and the way in which it is
mounted to the back of the front panel?

I am attempting to either find an original speaker in outstanding condition
or obtain a replacement that will fit and that can be mounted to the front
panel without adding more holes.

TIA es 73,
Chris
