I generally don't acknowledge any "AM calling frequencies" or "AM
Windows" on any of the bands. My dipoles are cut generally for the
middle of the phone band, my receiver has a tuning knob, my transmitter
has a VFO, and calling CQ in the AM mode works for making contacts.
Sitting on a make-believe "calling frequency" or in a make-believe "AM
Window" makes no sense to me. Of course, I also never operate crystal
control since I enjoy having frequency agility across any particular
amateur band whether I'm operating AM or SSB.
