[Hallicrafters] SX-28 Problem

Am helping a friend in another city restore his SX-28.  He has good audio thru speaker when a tone is applied to both sides of C-50.  There is no audio when a 455 Kc modulated signal is applied to either side of T-3.  C-37 is OK.  V-7 is OK.  

Comments from those who have been there appreciated. I'm beginning to think I'm overlooking something basic.
