I dont see a group for RME radios on the QTH.net list, so with apology to the hammarlund/hallicrafter/boatanchor groups, I would like to ask some questions about a recent find of mine - an RME-70 communications radio (prewar 1930s). This one is nice and works well and is electrically refurbished. However it has a greenish color to the tuning and bandspread dials which makes them very hard to read - was the green color meant to be there - I beleive some sets were made with this green hue on the dials. Second the noise limiter and standby are supposed to be operated with a pull type switch attatched to the volume control shaft - mine doesnt have the switch - so it cant be put into standby mode or the noise limiter made operational (the 6A6 tube socket is empty in this set). Did RME make some sets without these features - they did do some custom work for customers. Lastly - how many were produced - the RME69 - its predecessor had about 5000 marketed, the 70 presumably less since it was only made for about a year?
