[Hallicrafters] Hunter's bounces

Tom,

Hey Tom,
Son, get yourself a shot or three of caffeine, provided that you are not
allergic to it of course, prop at least one eyelid open with a preferable
not already employed toothpick, and pay attention.

I already posted to the Hallicrafters list that I do not have the ability,
or for that matter the authorization, to remove this man from the list. Now
he should have done this himself while he still had access. If his e-mail
address changed Tom, was it not he who changed it? Hence, he should have
known his previous address and should have gone to the 'mailman.qth.net'
site and used his personal password to unsubscribe.

Now assuming your friend really and truly had less then no clue as to what
the address he had subscribed to the Hallicrafters list was, well, every
month, on or about the first day, the QTH.NET computers send each list
subscriber a notice giving he/she the name of every list they are subscribed
to, as well as the personal password for it. So your friend only had to look
back to the first of any month to procure the information needed.

Now extrapolating even farther into the murkey vapors of 'should have - was
going to - OOPS! I forgot lands, your friend could have sent me an e-mail
and asked me for assistance. I have a list of each and every subscriber to
the Hallicrafters list, as well as all the other lists I manage, and could
have located his e-mail address. Since I am not able to, except in a true
emergency situation, remove a subscriber from a list, and since each
subscriber has his/her own personal password for every list they are
subscribed to, and since no list manager has access to said personal
password, I could not have removed him anyhow. However, I could have, and
would have, called the system owner, Alan Waller, K3TKJ, at my own expense,
and asked Al to please override the personal password and globally remove
your friend from all lists he subscribed to on the QTH.NET system.

FYI: A global remove can only be done by Al himself. It is only used when
there is a situation that demands a person, or group, or entity, be removed
from every list on the QTH.NET system.

As soon as I 'saw" the multitude of automated "Sorry, but Mr. X no longer
works here ..." messages, I called the QTH.NET office in DE long distance
and left a phone message. Then I called Al's home number and left a message
there also. Additionally, I sent Al an e-mail at his work QTH and forwarded
a copy of the post I needed to have globally removed from the QTH.NET system
ASAP. Finally, I sent Al a second e-mail to his 'K3TKJ at QSL.NET' address
requesting the same action.

So Tom, old friend, all that I could do, was done a long time ago.

As for the subscriber who implied my incompetence and suggested that the
list manager be replaced, I wonder what more he could have done then I had
already done? This is a hobby. I am not a worker of miracles. If I were, I
would go back on tour as a professional Magician/Illusionist and get paid
for doing them! Even if my miracles were sleight of hand, optical and
auditory illusions and other techniques of Legerdemain!

Take care Tom.
