[Hallicrafters] HT-32 ALC Mod regrets

For those of you waiting breathlessly for an opinion on the HT-32 ALC
mod we discussed a while back, I'm afraid you'll have to wait on another
experimental subject.
The replacement crystal for the LSB oscillator came and I had to make a
decision about putting the HT-32 back together with or without the mod.
I chose without.
My morals are flexible to some extent regarding mods. I've done very
small mods to the speech amp of my Ranger and I've made AVC mods to the
two SX-117's I've had, but something about this one crossed the line.
("I didn't see no line, boys." said Jake Spoon as his friends were about
to hang him.)
The real problem is that it is so difficult to experiment with an HT-32.
Unlike the almost weightless HT-44, if I was unhappy with the ALC, I
couldn't just flip it over and take it out.
