Hello All Who Still Love Things That Go Glow In The Dark,
The Sunday HHI 20 meter Net is operating "EVERY" Sunday, whether or not an
announcement appears on this list. It is operating between the frequencies
of 14.293 MHZ and 14.292 MHZ usb.
The propagation, remember that Ionosphere D layer stuff?, has not been
conducive to stable communications. No news flash there, heh? The designated
relay stations: KG4KZG, Dale in southern Florida, K0EJF, Jerry in Colorado,
K7DDG, Roger in Oregon (and others) have not been able to relay, as they
can't hear me, or each other, for that matter! One Sunday I actually had a
Ham in South Africa doing the relays for me!
If the propagation doing a little extra hop, skip and dip is not enough to
contend with, the QSB is fading faster than the evacuation of a NYC subway
car after the local contingent of homebrew beer tasters release some noxious
vapors that trip the Carbon Monoxide sensors! Two weeks ago I actually heard
WB4BPS, Vince in Alabama, normally a pipeline station for me, check in! I
quickly signed with the station I had just finished a QSO with and called
Vince. Elapsed time of a bout 56 seconds. Too late! Vince had vanished
faster then packages of skin tone panty hose selling six for a buck at a
blue light special! Ridiculous!
I know it has to be very frustrating for all of you who are trying to check
in. It is just as frustrating for me as the NCS trying to hear you fade in,
fade out and hope to get a call sign before the band goes to where ever the
heck it goes! Know that I am there, the relay stations are trying and if you
continue to have faith, patience and persistence we will survive this
extended tour of the sewer section of the current solar cycle.
Your participation is appreciated, your faithfulness is admirable and your
continued support of all things Hallicrafters is unequalled.
Thank you for being there and keep those tubes glowing. If we fling enough
radiation at the Ionosphere, who knows, we might even get some skip zones
that terminate on the Earth instead of the rings of Saturn!
