W9WZE Halligan's Hallicrafters Call For Sunday Special Net!

Tune in the HHI 20 meter Net tomorrow, Sunday September 23rd. You will hear
a very "SPECIAL" historic Net, that you are not likely to ever hear live
again! No, Frogzilla is not parking his slimy green more slippry than a
graphite greased Hog's rump in the NCS chair! No, the blind dude is not
going to climb the 60 foot high R-25g tower and do the HHI Sunday Net with a
live remote! We are going to be joined live on the waves of air by Dr. Max
De Henseler, HB9RS of Switzerland. So wind your Baby Ben alarm clocks, put a
fresh battery in your digital wrist watch and set the alarm - do what you
have to do - just do NOT let your siesta or football game or eighteen inch
high Dagwood sandwich interfere with this rare historic opportunity to say
you were there and heard it when it happened!

Max is the author of the most concise and carefully researched book ever
written about William Halligan, Sr. and his legendary company named
Hallicrafters. The book is entitled, "The Hallicrafters Story" and is
available from Amazon. Dr. Max, and his late wife Renate, were very close
personal friends of Bill and Katie Halligan. Check out the photos of Bill,
Katie, Renate and Max in the HHRP DVD and CD packages! You can see the
Miami, FL Winter home of the Halligan's, Bill's radio room and more. Besides
that, you can hear Bill talking with Max and Renate live over dinner, Bill's
acceptance speech when the QCWA presented him with their highest honor, The
Hall Of Fame and more.

Because of the closeness that grew out of the warm and trusting friendship
enjoyed by Bill and Max, many stories were shared with Dr. De Henseler that
few, if any, others knew about. Many of these can be found in the HHRP
materials; articles, photos and rare actual live video and audio.

It was the good Dr. Max who established the first Ham Radio station at the
United Nations in NYC. You can also see photos of it, as well as Bill
Halligan operating it, in the HHRP materials. Wherever Max traveled he
sprrinkled the earthly loam with crystaline Galena and Silicon seeds of Ham
Radio, just as some real person nicknamed Johnny Appleseed many decades
before seeded the soil of the midwest with apples. Both became legends in
their own right, but niether sought personal glory, just a more secure
future for their dreams.

HB9RS is a man of many talents, accomplishments and experiences. Tomorrow,
if we can make contact with him from his QTH in Switzerland, perhaps many of
you can meet him live and in the flesh, sort of! Conditions permitting, we
will let all who would like to greet Dr. Max do so via the HF roadway over
the North Pole. If you have questions about Hallicrafters, Bill Halligan and
so forth, please keep them general. Max is not, nor does he profess to be,
an authority on Hallicrafters or anything else. What he can share with you
are experiences he enjoyed with the King of things that go glow in the dark
and fascinating tidbits of life in the land of Halli that the Chicago
newspapers never knew! Max and Bill were friends and it is these mutual
experiences over dinner or at a convention or while riding in a NYC taxi in
route to get the David Sarnoff lifetime achievement award that Bill got in
November 1983 etc. The stuff you do not get to read in manuals! It is an
indescribable experience when you can actually touch or speak with someone
who played a role in creating the history you grew up reading about. Here is
your chance to reach out and touch a man who helped to make Ham Radio
better. You will be amazed just how much more exciting and rewarding your
own role in the realm of Ham Radio may become!

Dr. Max De Henseler is a very special man and someone I am more then proud
to have as a friend. It was Max who contacted me and challenged me to make
the historic material he had spent a lifetime collecting available to all
Hams and radio hobbyists. Hence, the birth of HHRP - Historic Halligan Radio
Project. Twenty-two months later HHRP had two DVD and six CD discs
available. Out of my immense respect for this humble and unasuming gentle
man I dedicated the entire HHRP archeive collection to Dr. Max De Henseler,
HB9RS and his lovely and charming wife, Renate. Please read the "Dedication"
on the HHRP CD diskettes. See her photo, read the verse that she and Max so
loved and let it touch your heart as it touched mine.

So do your propagation D layer dance, shake your sloper, limber your lumbar
with the Limbo Loop and somehow someway make those waves work so that we get
the right angle on the downward takeoff angle and can QSO with HB9RS 5/9+ Q5
with no QSB and QRM that we can stuff a non-conductive Cork into! Be there
tomorrow! Light those tubes up! Warm up the high voltage Spark Gap flame
flinger and put some fire in those mono band wires! Get the wax out of your
ears, the Lead out of your Rumpus Buttas Maximus, yourself out of the
recliner and join us for a day where we will have fun, fellowship and
hopefully a chance to chat with a man who has been there, made a difference
and loves Amateur Radio.

Any of you who would like to assist me with NCS duties and/or help with
relays, please contact me by e-mail or telephone. Since propagation is about
as predictable as how many times out of ten tries Frogzilla can sneak into a
movie theater, gulp down a carbonated soft drink and belch without someone
'croaking', I can use all the fire power you lovers of things that still go
glow in the dark can supply me with! Thanks to one and all! Here is hoping
to hear you tomorrow!
