I was gonna say......isn't that Ray??

I never went through mine when I got it, might give it a go someday.
It came from the original owner and still had all of the Halli-branded
tubes installed. In fact, the SX-62B I picked up before from someone
else did also, except for one. And that one tube happened to be
rolling around in the cabinet under the chassis of the SX-115. Weird,
huh?
The SX-115 is an excellent rig except for its two shortcomings: no
160m band, and using only one sideband for AM. The full 160 band
wasn't really in play for amateurs back then due to LORAN and other
restrictions, yet some manufacturers still included it. Sure wish
Hallicrafters had.
But a well-adjusted 115 is rock-solid-stable, extremely accurate, and
makes that quacky SSB sound about as good as it can sound. The only
thing I did to mine was remove all the original tube shields into a
labeled bag, and replaced them with IERC types for better cooling.
Since SSB was thought to be the mode of the future, the 115, like the
75A-4 before it, was built more as a SSB receiver, with AM a secondary
consideration.
