Thanks all for the flood of replies. The two pin plug that provides plate and screen power is probably not the best because I have run across the problem in about every 5th SR-2000. The military version of the SR-2000 used the single pin screw in 5KV connector and a Jones plug for the screen and ground. Carrying the ground in a plug rather than a screw on strap was problematic with that radio. The military version was distinguishable from the others by the plate and screen connectors, the 0 - 500 dial was different, and the wiring was exceptionally cleaner. They had put a tiny 1/32 loop in the leads of the diodes for strain relief and every wire was loose at pull arounds. BTW, the SR-2000, SR-400, and SR-400A were designed with mostly 13.5V tubes i.e. the 8122, 7059, and 7056. These were ruggedized tubes made for mobile use and the filaments could be lit as low as 12.0V. The point is, if you do not have at least 115V but not over 120V, the filament voltage will drop below 12.0V and you will most likely have to hand pick tubes for performance especially the AGC amplifier, and the 8122's will not deliver anywhere near the normal 1KW+, 10 - 80 to the antenna.
We are searching for the three 80 meter tuning cores PN 077-003624 that were used in service note K-5022 1/13/71. Also looking for the crystal filter for an SR-400A or a parts radio. Kindest regards Jim K9AXN
