Try using mineral spirits ("paint thinner"). Take a
soft cloth and put it over your finger. Then dip the
cloth in the mineral spirits. Next rub a small area
of the plastic with the cloth. The paint should
loosen. Keep working on the various areas of the
meter.
Mineral spirits will not damage most plastics.
However, try it one a very small area "just in case"
to see if there is any possible damage.

Any suggestions on how to remove paint splatter and
overspray from plastic meter cases. I recently
purchased a Johnson Invader where someone had sprayed
the cabinet with aluminum paint without removing the
chassis. The back side of the meters' clear plastic
case is covered with the spray. I am wondering what
will remove the paint without damaging the plastic.
