Douglas,
    Do NOT try to clean the SX-62 (or any other Hallicrafters dial 
lettering) dial glass.  It there is dust, gently use a camel hair brush 
to dust it but otherwise leave it be.  My guess is that spraying with a 
clear-coat used for photographs would be okay.  Someone may have 
experience doing that and will report.  Good luck.  Does the receiver 
work as is?
