[Hallicrafters] SX-62 adventure

I just picked up one of these buttes, it's like an
S-38D on steroids! It's a 1948 model with a slight
raised square area on the perforated cover. Good
looking radio and definately bigger than what I
thought.

It arrives and the front glass is smashed to my
horror, luckily it wasn't the dial glass and the case
received a bit of an impact so there's a misalignment
of the case I'll have to straighten out this weekend.

I had a local glass cutter make me a replacement for
the front. It's been al polished and cleaned up, but
the dial glass is looking a little crackly. Has anyone
or can I "safely" seal it with a clear coat spray
enamel to arrest  further craqueleur.
