Hi Roy,
The facsimile machine used in Flags of our Fathers belongs to our
museum. It is a TXC-1 donated to the museum by John Leonard, KG6OFF.
The power supply and cables were donated by Robert Downs, WA5CAB, as
was the speaker. Although we do own the matching convertor we did
not hook it up as it was a stand alone application and not actually
attached to a receiver. When UPS delivered the cables, speaker and
power supply they had broken the rectifier tube. Thanks to the
efforts of George Hutchison, W7TTY and Glen Galati, KA7BOJ they were
able to overnight the correct tube so that the machine could run
properly when filmed the following day.
The TXC-1 and its associated hardware is in storage at the San Diego
State University Library to be part of a display in the not too
distant future.
The rest of the equipment in the scene belongs to the property
department of Warner Brothers and is not functional to the best of my
knowledge.
Much blood, sweat and tears went into that short scene.
73,
Don, K9TTY
