Recently, I had a good experience with UPS (amazin' eh?). I'm sure most of
you know already, but they have various sizes of instant puff-up foam
packages, which when used in the right applications (size requirements), can
safely ship almost anything. I had terrible luck at the UPS stores I tried,
but the main UPS terminal here in Denver was very helpful, and knowledgeable
to boot. Sending an SX-62A (55 lbs) to California cost $60+, and that
included the custom fitted box. The good news, is that the foam packing is
reusable (mark the bags), as it's custom-fitted.to whatever was shipped.
On the opposite note, my buddy Hunter's RACAL receiver was sent via Parcel
Post, and was essentially DESTROYED - this from folks who want to increase
the cost of a stamp.
