[Hallicrafters] Off-subject question on telephones

I have been using a 1950's vintage dial phone made by North Electric for several years at my location without a problem. So, I don't think the phone company has changed their voltage spec. Perhaps your ringer coil was ready to go, or as others have suggested, the capacitor might be bad.
