I found a WWII Navy version of the SX-28 at the Atlanta hamfest
yesterday. The front panel is black wrinkle finish and does not have
the embossed texture and does not say "hallicrafters" or "Super
Skyrider". All the knobs and other engravings are in the usual places
as are the dials and S meter. A metal tag says "TYPE CHL-46195 RADIO
RECEIVER" and "A UNIT OF MODEL RBY RADIO EQUIPMENT".

From a single reference I could find on the web, the other unit of the
RBY radio equipment was a panoramic frequency display made by Panoramic
Radio Corp. Has anyone ever seen one of these?

The radio is pretty rusty, but everything is there. I think it can all
be salvaged, but I'm going to have to strip the chassis and have it
sandblasted and re-plated, then completely reassemble with new fixed
resistors and caps.
