[Hallicrafters] SX-100 Vs. SX-100 or SX-101A

I have an SX-101 Mark III, with 160 meters and no
product detector. It works great on SSB, but I'll
admit the receiver would probably sound a little
better on SSB with a product detector. However, if
the series of articles in Electric Radio back in 2005
were accurate, the SX-101A had a lot of design
problems associated with its product detector circuit.

My 101 Mark III actually sounds a lot like an SX-100
on SSB and that's not so shabby at all.

Given the 160 coverage and otherwise excellent
performance, I'd much rather have the earlier model if
I were looking for one now. For whatever my opinion
may be worth.
