It's the way to go because it is cured with heat which results in a finish  
that is tough and scratch resistant like the original. In calling  the original 
scratch resistant I mean compared to a typical spray can  repaint job. 
Anyway, painter skill and experience will make a big  difference in finished quality 
as there is often a tendency to apply the  paint too thick and the paint has 
an additional tendency to orange peel. If you  discuss these issues ahead of 
time with your painter they can be  avoided provided he knows what he is doing. 
Also, most powder paint is too  glossy and your freshly painted cabinet will 
look like a repaint. Try to pick  some flat or semi gloss shades and you will 
be much happier with the results. I  have a local powder painter I have worked 
with on some SX-88 cabinets with  regard to degree of gloss and the results 
have been fabulous and practically  undetectable from the original. I have also 
had one done before that was so bad  I had to get someone else to do it over.
