Group,
I'd have to agree with Jim on this one.
The REAL driving issue in ALL of this is the INDIVIDUAL! The individual
must make the decision(s) as to their hobby, its value, and how/when to
deal with it.
I do NOT believe WE as Amateurs, started our hobby with monetary gain in
mind.
My personal perspective has been involved in "Family" discussions
regarding my "collection" of radio equipment VERY recently. I'm a
(Young or Old - YOU decide!) 57 year old, family history would seem to
indicate at least twenty more years of life minimum, or thirty years of
life maximum. This of course does NOT include inexplicable things such
as immediate loss of life due to a traffic accident or other such.
So the topic of WHAT to do with this collection has been going on for a
bit at MY QTH.
So to ALL of us - it IS personal.
I intend to continue along my current path - UNTIL - I believe it is
time to let almost ALL of it go. It will be problematic in that almost
every piece IS a boatanchor/tube type/moldie-oldie! The fifteen year
period from NOW, WHOM will want it? Will "THEY" have a clue what to do
with it?
My token $0.02.
