Hi Julian and All,

I'll be interested to hear any comments on this matter too. I have two
SX-28s (one is an SX-28A) and the ANL operates differently on each set. On
the SX-28A the control has a small effect on signals, if I set it to max (9)
then the signals are somewhat distorted, otherwise the affect on the noise
level is fairly small. On the SX-28, which has been largely rebuilt by the
previous owner, the ANL control acts almost like a preselector control,
signals peak up by a considerable amount near the minimum (1-3) setting on
the control. Hallicrafters did bring out a mod to the original ANL, I think
that this mod wasn't too popular. I have the mod as a PDF document, will
take a read of it and see if there's any reference to the control acting
differently or if a switch is substituted for the pot.

73,

Roger/G3VKM

I've just received an SX-28, S/N H164061. It's in very good condition,
but there is one issue
I see with it immediately: the ANL knob has been replaced by a toggle
switch. I haven't yet
investigated how the wiring has been changed inside, but am wondering if
this was a common
modification? Any comments would be of interest.
