[Hallicrafters] SX-42 Alignment

The Sx42 is one of the TOUGHEST radio to work on !! I've worked  on  half a 
dozen of these Sx42's and I've run into all sort of  problems(leaky silver 
micas in IF ,bad wafer switches ,low senstivity ,tracking  problems etc)  I would 
first check all the SILVER MICAS inside the IF  transformers and in the RF 
section(oscillator) (which means opening up the  IF cans and checking each silver 
mica !!).even the ferrite cores can cause  tracking problems due to drifts in 
core permeabilites .what is the serial no. on  your SX42?
By the way I'm in the process of aligning one myself right now .
