[Hallicrafters] good neutralization method

Sure
If you have a spectrum analyzer you can see the magnitude and frequency
(ies) of the oscillation. It's creepy to watch if the N of the circuit is
way off and the tube(s) is going nuts. It can be a really powerful
phenomenon under the right circumstances and is easily capable of destroying
a sweep tube.
What's typical for a serious case is the plate meter doing weird things.
Such as bouncing around when it should be showing only idle current and very
steady. A good place to check N is at the top of the Ten meter band. If
you dip the plate and the power goes up, even slightly then you are not
experiencing the run away amplifier turned part-time oscillator syndrome. If
the N is ok on 10m the rest of the bands are going to be OK.

Hi group,
I was wondering if someone would mention the signs your xmitr exhibits
when the finals are not neutralized.

Hi Folks,
A while back I posted here saying I was having a difficult
time neutralizing the finals in my HT-44. Received lots of help
and suggestions from the folks here. It turned out that the problem
was the neut cap was badly mistuned. The best method to tune
it was found in the 1964 ARRL handbook, and here's what
it said to do;
