[Hallicrafters] Noise Blankers

I have a high-end receiver (not a Halliscratcher) that was made with only IF
& AF gain (knob) controls, and I encounter lots of pulse-noise (air
cleaners, lamp dimmers, etc) on not only it, but other receivers as well,
includingSX-99, SX-62A, et. al.  Recently, I tried out a TimeWave ANC-4, and
found it "wanting".  Fluorescent lights overrode it.  What I'm trying to do
is cancel out the noise BEFORE it gets into the receiver(s), thus not
affecting the AVC/AGC.  Anybody have experiences they'd share, and better
yet - anybody have a schematic for a blanker that WORKS?
