The 829B ( and the smaller 832A) and the 3E29 pulse version which were the
daddy of the 5894/7854/Moto whatever, were almost always mounted horizontal,
including WW2 aircraft. Sag is not a problem obviously.
The only problem in that family was the Amperex AX9903 which had very
fragile glass to anode pin seals. Amperex very quickly came out with the
5894 with the quite obvious thick glass and cured that issue.
I have a NIB AX9903 if anyone wants one for originality in something.
