Thanks for finding that picture and article.  I grew up in Colorado Springs and played hockey at the Broadmoor ice rink in the late 50's.  The first "real" radio I saw was an S38 that belonged to a friend down the block.  I read Heinlein in the early 60's but did not know he was a local.  One of my other friends had a house that was built into the red rocks that feature so prominently in the area near the Broadmoor - I really admired the modern architecture, even at a young age.  Heinlein really spent some time designing that house in the article, by the looks of it.  I can see why the "modern" look of the 50's Hallicrafters would attract him.  He was ahead of his time.
