[Hallicrafters] New John Record For HHI?

Hi All,

No, not what you may be thinking! Yesterday the Saturday HHI 40 meter Net
had nine stations check in with an operator having the first name of "John"!
Now that has never happened before in the 1,200+ Hallicrafters Nets that I
have been the NCS for! Yes, we have had a dozen Florida or Texas stations
etc., but not that many stations having operators with the same first name.

One of the latter check ins, who had been observing this abundance of John
personalities, suggested maybe a special event for "John Stations". Hmmm. Me
thinks that special event might well get some severe QRM from the "Birch
John Society", or other clubs dedicated to the preservation of vintage
wooden outhouse seats!

I don't know about you, but I have never visited a little wooden shack out
back that had any seat! Other then the roughly sawed circular one that often
left you a gift of a wooden splinter in one, sometimes if you were very
exceptionally lucky, both buttocks!

In any event, and I personally do not think the Ham bands need more Special
Events or Contests, the Net participants found this most amusing. I guess
the bottom of the solar cycle, or the lack of useable propagation, has
caused most of us to find comic relief from whatever is handy!

Thanks to all who participated yesterday, it was fun!
