[Hallicrafters] fluted knobs & other tales

I've always wondered if a guy in an orchestra designed FLUTED knobs -
anybody ever tried to play one?

Oh, all seriousness aside - I'm still working on Hunter's FPM-300, having
made the CORRECT height extender card for the critter.  Still have drift
problems (quite substantial, after warmup), but regulated voltages appear to
stay constant.  I did get some reduction of the effect by reseating the
xtal. for that band, but still have the problem.

I've cleaned the contact surfaces & bearing bushes for the VFO variable,
cleaned and retightened all hardware, and used PRE-DeOxit (Cramolin) on
appropriate places with some improvement, - ideas please?
