[Hallicrafters] SX-28 IF alignment (sweeps)

Some of you may remember I was having a problem with the S-meter on my
SX-28,
and the suggestion here was to check all the resistors in the AVC/ANL
and associated
circuitry. So I went through and replaced all the resistors (some were
indeed way off).

The S-meter problem almost went away, but not quite.

So I decided I would have to realign the IF, since component values had
changed,
and maybe that would cure everything. I'm aligning with sweeps, and
notice something
I don't understand:

The crystal sharp, medium and broad all peak nicely to the same
frequency. The broad
and medium IF peak at a different frequency, about 10kHz lower. But the
sharp IF peaks
at about the crystal frequency i.e. about 10kHz higher than the medium
and broad!

How can this be? Surely the broad, medium and sharp IF share the same tuned
circuit? Any suggestions on what may be going on?

Thanks!
Julian
