Didn't we already go through this 40 years ago?  Check
your back issues of 73 and QST (you DO have back
issues, don't you?)and read the correspondence
pages...there was a great storm over Hertz verses
cycles per second.  It was Hertz in Europe long before
it was here...I believe (I could be wrong about this,
but I don't think so) that German military radios in
WWII noted their frequencies in kHz and MHz.  So, it
has been around longer than most of us have been
alive.

BTW, when was the last time you replaced all the
CONDENSORS in a boatanchor?  All mine use
capacitors...the only condensors I have are those
things behind the grill of my cars that are filled
with dead bugs. (And that thingie under the 'fridge
with all the dust bunnies on it).
