Neither of these statements are true.

Have you ever contacted Ray Osterwald? Every instance I've had to deal with 
him has been a pleasant one. He's been involved in this aspect of the hobby 
longer than most of us, is a master craftsman homebrewer, and a gentleman.

He's also probably not here to defend himself.

The circulation of ER is ~3000 paid  subscribers.

I hate to see mud slung at someone who's done a lot for the hobby, and 
doesn't deserve to have snide comments made about him, or the fine 
publication (ER) that he publishes (and edits).
