Nope the Vatican got the SR-1000 console with the SX-115 update rather than
the SX-101.

The only two SR-500's I know of were the one on the back cover of Harrison
radio 1959 Catalog in their used gear and the one at ET3RS that Max HB9RS
operated. Several years ago a W9 was also said to have the SR-500 console
but the understanding is that the gear was in bad shape. The only piece of
gear that is common today from the console is the SX-100. I have seen the
HT-30 transmitter
for sale a couple of times and the linear maybe once. If you can get all
the pieces maybe a console could be fabricated. I think the SR-1000 is more
doable. The SX-101, HT-32, and HT-33 are available and much more user
friendly than the older SR-500 gear.

I had someone say Hallicrafters sold less than 10 of the SR-500 with most
going overseas. The SR-1000 was sold to one K2 as a special deal and one
outfitted with the SX-115 was delivered to the Vatican by Bill Halligan and
Maxwell Myers W2BIB. Funny but CW Contesters W9IOP and W4KFC operated CW
from HV1CN. I understand W9IOP took along a 75A4 but the SX-115
was so much better that the boys used that as is. The Vatican (according to
W2BIB) was to get a SR-2000. No one has ever said if they got one. Stu
Meyer later gave them Hammarlund gear as he did with 4U1ITU which also
originally ad the SX-115/HT-32/HT33 station.
