[Hallicrafters] SX-71 (Similar Problem)

The SX-71 is double conversion.

If the double conversion circuitry is not used on
Bands 1 and 2, and the radio is dead above Band 2,
then the trouble may very well be related to the
"high" IF. I don't have an SX-71 but have run into
very similar problems with a Hammarlund HQ-180, which
uses triple conversion above about 7 MHz. In that case
it turned out to be a bad connection in the conversion
oscillator associated with the 3035 KHz high IF.

I think the SX-71 uses a high IF of either 2050 or
2250 KHz.

The problem with the SX-42 will not be related to
double conversion because the SX-42 does not use that
scheme.

Just a thought.
