I have seen this (or a problem very similar) problem before. 

Check the Acrobat preferences under Internet.  I can't remember the 
exact setting but it seems it was the "Display PDF Browser" option .... 
whatever it is, try reversing it. 

I know my setting for Acrobat Reader has the box checked but it seems 
like at work we needed it unchecked in full Acrobat.
