Long ago, when I was a kid, I lived in Kansas City (Burstein-Applebee), and
would take the bus with my buddy, downtown, to visit B-A. The old boys down
there would loan you a pair of HARD headphones, and you could "listen" as
long as you were quiet and kept "out of the way". Only if you were
licensed, could you play with the station.
Well, now I'm 63 (arghhh!, and finally able to afford those wonderful
radios. I DO sell 'em once in a while, but finally getting my hands on an
S-38D (never DID save up enough money for one), and my dream - an SX-62A,
and even an SX-16 - well, that's Nirvana. It's about finally having
something you dreamed about, I guess.
Speaking of that, I do have an SX-62A (retubed, realigned, cleaned) for
sale; also a Nearly Pristine National NC-173 with the matching speaker -
same story. There is also an Allied 2515A that works splendidly (very
similar to the Lafayette version), so if you wish to enhance your
'collection', gimme a rattle. It's all about Kid Stuff.
