Yep, 'discussion of' isn't the issue, advertising is and always was, IIRC.

It wasn't so long ago that one went for $6K + on epay. I recall when a
certain party paid the first big bucks for one on there, $4160 or so.
Not many months are I picked one up.

I got mine in 1998 (or '99?) from the original owner after a tip from
Dennis VE-something, one of the original Halli-guys on here. $550
shipped, with the original manual. And I thought that was a lot of
money then. It's a great SSB receiver, but consider that it only uses
one sideband for AM recovery and lacks 160m. If you're a user, this
immediately diminishes its utility and thereby, value. If you're more
about bragging rights, well...no price is too great!

The SX-115 is a really nice receiver, don't get me wrong. It's
rock-stable makes SSB sound more like AM, which can never be a bad
thing. IMHO, it's just not a multi-kilobuck rig. But visually, it's
very well-balanced and asthetically pleasing. And it uses tubes.
