So there is no confusion, commercial Ham gear must
be FCC approved, homebrew and modified gear does not.

Different but similar to "certified".

No legal transmitter on CB may be homebrewed or user
modified.

At least in theory ... one wonders how 5, 10, and 20KW
CB key-down contest transmitters fit the regs ... :-(
