To answer Dave's question, I believe those dual miniature triodes prices (e.g. 12AX7, 12AT7...) are being driven to obscene levels due to Audiophiles who call themselves aficionados of old guitars and audio amps. I have found that they are generally offered as "matched pairs" which arguably make them worth more (but that much?). I have been successful in negotiating a reasonable price by contacting the seller and telling them "outside of eBay" that they are for a 60s vintage Ham radio. Usually does the trick
